Ditchling Beacon to Tottington Manor Hotel, 10 miles

Positioned right next to the South Downs Way, with expansive views of the South Downs, Tottington Manor Hotel has a bar and outdoor seating so you can take in the views. Pass Pyecombe, Devils Dyke, Edburton Hill and Truleigh Hill before descending almost 200 metres down to the Hotel.

Ditchling to The Royal Oak, Poynings. 11.5 km

Why not start at the bottom of the South Downs near Ditchling, travel straight up the Sussex Border Path to the outskirts of Brighton, then double back, still on the Border Path, to Poynings. The Royal Oak has a large garden, and describes itself as a perfect country pub.

Cuckmere Haven to Sussex Ox, via Long Man of Wilmington, 11km.

Start at the mouth of the Cuckmere river and trace its route back to Alfriston where you leave the river and join the South Downs Way. A short walk from here brings you to the long man of Wilmington. Double back to The Sussex Ox for a well earned drink.
